10 Rules to Make 2026 the Year Your Community Changes Everything
In this solo episode, Kelly looks back at how business has shifted from the AI explosion of 2023, to the rise of personal branding in 2024, to the wave of raw, human authenticity in 2025, and makes a bold prediction for what comes next. 2026, he argues, will be the year of community, where leaders are no longer satisfied with surface level connections and instead seek real belonging in rooms where they can be honest, supported, and challenged. Drawing on his experience building The Catalyst Club, Kelly shares what he has seen firsthand as leaders open up, share the hard stuff, and finally find a place where people actually get it.
From there, he lays out ten clear rules to help you choose the right community in 2026, plus five bonus tips to make sure you get real value from whichever room you join. You will learn how to spot the difference between a group that just talks and a community that actually creates opportunities, what it means to feel both safe and stretched, and why participation is the secret that separates people who grow from people who just lurk. If you want 2026 to be the year your community truly changes everything for you, this episode gives you the roadmap.
Key Takeaways:
1. The right community should reflect the future version of you, not just who you are today, so that simply being in the room stretches your growth.
2. Values are non-negotiable: if a community’s DNA doesn’t align with your beliefs about integrity, growth, and how business should be done, you don’t belong there.
3. Activity is everything; you want a room full of people who show up, engage, share wins, and help each other, not a graveyard of ghost profiles and empty feeds.
4. Great communities have leaders who are present in the trenches, learning with their people and setting the tone by how they show up, not just what they say.
5. The best rooms make you feel both safe and challenged, giving you space to be human while still expecting you to pursue excellence and tell the truth about where you’re at.
6. A real community doesn’t just talk, it creates opportunities through introductions, collaborations, referrals, hot seats, and shared wins that move everyone forward.
7. Diversity of perspective matters more than demographics; you need people ahead of you, beside you, and learning from you to create an ecosystem that fuels momentum.
8. Structure beats chaos every time; consistent events, rituals, themes, and clear rules create safety, trust, and a rhythm that makes it easier to show up.
9. You should feel seen in your community—when you speak, people respond, and your presence is acknowledged—because a room that doesn’t see you can’t grow you.
10. Your energy is data; if you leave calls drained, you’re in the wrong room, but if you leave buzzing and inspired, you’ve probably found your community for 2026 and beyond.
If this episode hit home, and you know 2026 needs to be your year of community, The Catalyst Club is exactly the kind of room we talked about. It is a private, virtual leadership community where founders, builders, and business development leaders show up honestly, share what is really going on, and help each other grow with real support and real strategy. If you are tired of doing this alone and want a community that actually moves you forward, join us at www.kellykennedyofficial.com/thecatalystclub.

Speaker AI think we can all agree that 2023 was the year of AI.
Speaker AAI tools exploded onto the scene.
Speaker AChatGPT, Gemini and large Language Model was the phrase of the year.
Speaker AI was already six months into this very show when I tried ChatGPT for the very first time.
Speaker AAnd all I knew was it was going to change everything.
Speaker AAnd from that moment every guest wanted to talk about it.
Speaker AIt was here I realized something about this very show.
Speaker AI interview roughly 52 guests every single year across a variety of industries and over that time the trends for the year seem to reveal themselves.
Speaker AWhen you have multiple people from various industries talking about the same things, it's like you can see the Future.
Speaker AAnd while 2023 was dominated primarily by AI and automation talk, as we started heading into 2024, the conversations started to shift again.
Speaker ALeaders like Nat Berman, Liz Ryan, Marcus Chan and many more were talking all about authenticity and specifically about the power of personal branding.
Speaker AAnd while I'm almost embarrassed to say that I had no idea that building a personal brand was actually what was happen, it was blatantly obvious.
Speaker ABy the end of that year I was not only building my personal brand, but that 2024 was absolutely going to be the year that personal branding became a non negotiable in business for executives, entrepreneurs, thought leaders and anybody making a difference moving forward.
Speaker ABy 2025, another shift was becoming very evident.
Speaker AThe AI revolution was dominating social media.
Speaker AAI generated content was convenient and everybody had embraced it.
Speaker ABut there was a problem.
Speaker AA big problem.
Speaker AReal people were not connecting with the perfectly curated content.
Speaker ATurns out, humans are not perfect.
Speaker AWe make mistakes, we misspell things, we stutter.
Speaker AAnd it turns out that our imperfections are actually part of what make us human and make it easier to connect with other people.
Speaker AIn a world of AI and robots, real human posts and videos were standing out because of the flood of polished AI content.
Speaker A2025 turned out to be the year we could just be our messy, authentic selves and not just shine, but dominate the social media space.
Speaker AIn 2025, the year of authentic human connection was born.
Speaker APeople started showing up as themselves.
Speaker APeople first, business second.
Speaker AAnd now I'm going to make my prediction for 2026.
Speaker ASee, 2026 is going to be the year of the community.
Speaker ABecause people don't just want connections anymore, they want belonging.
Speaker AThe business world is changing and it's being driven by authentic human connection.
Speaker ABut this time, inside community.
Speaker ASeven months ago, I launched my community, the Catalyst Club.
Speaker AAnd I found that over and over again on the show, leaders were showing up, being vulnerable and sharing how lonely it was at the top.
Speaker AIt happened so often and across so many industries that it was impossible for me to ignore.
Speaker AInitially, the Catalyst Club was going to be a connection spot for my students.
Speaker ABut I noticed something magical happening in my accelerator courses.
Speaker AStudents were sharing the shit along with the good, and they were being met with understanding, peer support and encouragement.
Speaker AThere were tears, laughs, smiles, and, you guessed it, acceptance and support.
Speaker AThis was it.
Speaker AThis was the moment that I realized how community was going to change everything.
Speaker ALeaders needed a place that is private, that they could be surrounded by people who actually get it, other leaders, a place that they could be vulnerable and not taken advantage of.
Speaker AAnd most of all, that they could get support when they needed it.
Speaker AThe Catalyst Club was born and it continues to exceed my expectations month over month.
Speaker A73 members in under seven months.
Speaker AThat says it all.
Speaker AIn 2026, communities are going mainstream.
Speaker AAnd with so many to choose from, we need to choose one that's going to support all of our goals and needs.
Speaker ASo I wanted to take today guys and give you guys tips to help you choose your communities in 2026.
Speaker AMy prediction is that basically by the end of 2026, nearly everybody in executive and leadership positions are going to be part of one community or another.
Speaker AWhich means we all have some difficult choices ahead of us.
Speaker AAnd while I've spent the last seven months running my community, I've learned a few things along the way that I hope can help you in your choices as you choose the communities that work best for you.
Speaker ASo here are 10 tips to help you choose your community in 2026 and beyond.
Speaker ANumber one, choose a community that reflects the future version of you, not just the current one.
Speaker AIf you hop in a room and it looks exactly like you today, it won't stretch you tomorrow.
Speaker AAsk yourself, do I feel slightly uncomfortable in a Good way.
Speaker AIf that's the case, that is growth calling.
Speaker ANumber two, make sure the values align deeply with who you are.
Speaker AA community is not about skills, it's about DNA.
Speaker AAsk yourself, do these people believe what I believe about business, growth and integrity?
Speaker ADo they align with my values?
Speaker AIf the answer is no, run like hell.
Speaker ANumber three, look for active participation, not passive members.
Speaker AYou don't want a graveyard of ghost profiles.
Speaker AYou don't.
Speaker AYou want people who show up.
Speaker AWhen you join a community, check for comments, engagement, what events they have, past and present.
Speaker AReal conversations wins, being shared, members helping other members.
Speaker AActivity equals life.
Speaker ANumber four, choose communities where the leaders are actually present.
Speaker AIf the founder is absent, the community eventually dies.
Speaker AAsk yourself, is the leader in the trenches with their people?
Speaker APresence is leadership and absence is decline.
Speaker ASee, I'm active in nearly every single event inside the Catalyst Club.
Speaker AAnd frankly, I'm learning just as much from our members as they are learning from me and the other fellow members.
Speaker AYou need to be part of a community that pushes you no matter what level you are at.
Speaker ANumber five, pick the community that makes you feel both safe and challenged.
Speaker AThe best rooms give you permission to be human, while also pushing you to be excellent.
Speaker AAsk yourself, can I be honest here?
Speaker AAnd if I am, will they lift me up?
Speaker ANumber six, Ensure the community creates opportunities, not just conversations.
Speaker ATalk is cheap, impact is not.
Speaker ALook for collaboration, referrals, meetings and connections, hot seats, accountability, introductions, shared wins.
Speaker ARemember, a great community becomes an opportunity engine for everybody involved.
Speaker ANumber seven, evaluate the diversity of perspective, not demographics.
Speaker APerspective.
Speaker AYou need a room where some people are ahead of you, some people are beside you, and some people are learning from you.
Speaker AThis is an ecosystem that absolutely fuels momentum and helps every member involved.
Speaker A8.
Speaker ALook for structure, not chaos.
Speaker AA thriving community has intentional design.
Speaker AYou should see regular events, rituals, themes, accountability, clear rules.
Speaker AStructure creates safety and consistency creates trust.
Speaker ANumber nine, choose a community where you feel seen.
Speaker AThis is the most underrated factor.
Speaker AAsk yourself, when I speak, do people respond?
Speaker ADo I feel visible here?
Speaker AAm I acknowledged or ignored?
Speaker AA community that does not see you cannot grow you.
Speaker ANumber 10, choose the community that energizes you.
Speaker AIf you leave calls drained, this is the wrong tribe.
Speaker AIf you leave calls buzzing, this is home.
Speaker AEnergy is data and your body will know before your brain does.
Speaker ANow, joining a community on its own is simply not enough.
Speaker ACommunity is a two way street.
Speaker AYou can join a community and still get absolutely nothing from it.
Speaker ALet me repeat that.
Speaker AYou can join a community and get absolutely nothing from it.
Speaker AIf you don't show up Lean in and participate.
Speaker AHere are five bonus tips to help you get the most from your chosen community in 20, 26 and beyond.
Speaker ANumber one, show up consistently, even when you don't feel like it.
Speaker AEspecially when you don't feel like it.
Speaker AGrowth does not happen from the sidelines, it happens in the room.
Speaker AIf the community has calls, attend them.
Speaker AIf it has discussions, join them.
Speaker AIf it has challenges, participate.
Speaker AAnd if you have to miss something, catch the replay.
Speaker APresence is greater than perfection.
Speaker ANumber two, give value before you ask for value.
Speaker AThe most influential people in a community, they're not the loudest, they are the most helpful.
Speaker AAsk yourself, how can I help somebody today?
Speaker AWhen you pour into a room, the room pours back into you.
Speaker A10x number three, share your wins and your struggles.
Speaker AA community can't help you if it doesn't know where you're at.
Speaker ABe honest, be seen, be human.
Speaker AGrowth comes from vulnerability and opportunity comes from visibility.
Speaker AGuys, I can't even tell you how crazy important this is.
Speaker AI see some members of the Catalyst club community getting 100 times more than some other members.
Speaker AAnd you know what they're doing?
Speaker AThey're simply participating.
Speaker AThey're joining the conversation, they're asking questions.
Speaker AThey're being vulnerable and they are getting the support they need.
Speaker AThey are going to grow 10x a hundredx faster than other people who do not choose to do that.
Speaker AThe biggest piece of advice I can give to any of you guys joining communities, participate in them.
Speaker AGet active in them.
Speaker AJoin the conversations.
Speaker ATrust me, that is going to massively, massively increase the value proposition for, for you.
Speaker ANumber four, build relationships, not just connections.
Speaker AA community isn't a directory, it's a tribe.
Speaker ADM people jump onto intro calls, follow member content, celebrate their wins, or if you're in Catalyst Club, do a rockstar.
Speaker AOne to one, your network is being built one relationship at a time.
Speaker ANumber five, use the community as an accountability engineer.
Speaker ADon't just join it, activate yourself.
Speaker ATell the community your goals.
Speaker ASet deadlines.
Speaker AAsk to be held accountable.
Speaker ALet people challenge you to rise higher.
Speaker AYou grow fastest when other people expect you to.
Speaker AInside the Catalyst Club, we do something called move the needle every single Monday.
Speaker AAnd it's Simply sharing between five and 10 things that if you did them, would move the needle for you or your business that week.
Speaker AAnd that simple act of declaring what you're going to do exponentially increases your odds of accomplishing it.
Speaker AAccountability is powerful.
Speaker AFind ways to hold yourself accountable and get support while doing it.
Speaker AIt's, it's a great way to win together.
Speaker AA community can open doors for you, but you still have to walk through them.
Speaker A2026 guys, is going to be the year of Community.
